I am not sure blogging is even still a thing – but here we go.
I actually still love reading old blog posts that I come across when I am googling something. It feels more authentic than the ‘gram and usually when I read posts by someone that’s a known professional, it makes me appreciate their work even more.
A few of my favorites are Jodi Mockabee’s blog, Bryarton Farm blog and Lauren Liess’s blogs! Most of these – actually all three – cover interior design in some fashion but each with a separate niche. Jodi is known for homeschooling her children, being in nature, designing her family’s beautiful homes and prioritizing wellness as a whole experience pursuit. Sara with Bryarton Farm is known as a book illustrator, restoring their historic farmhouse and more importantly, her advocacy for adoption. We actually met at our hotel in India that we were both staying at when we were adopting Selvi and when she was finalizing their second daughter’s adoption from India. Lauren is an interior designer whose work intimately correlates to nature as an influence. She has recently been designing killer beach homes in the Outer Banks that I am drawn to.
I hope you enjoy those if you get a chance to look into them!
Also, the picture above was taken of the girls sleeping in Cory and my bed after a day at the beach. There is nothing better than post beach naps. I love that they both had on their striped shirts and all you can see is the outline.
The cousins playing in the bay one day a few weeks ago. They are so fortunate to grow up so closely together and this be their childhood reality.
The older girl cousins after jumping in a cold creek with their clothes on – trying to warm up by laying on the hot dock.
I have come to realize I am drawn to coastal grasses, sea oats and dunes way more than I am the actual water. The sounds they make on windy days, the brown and green hues, the swaying motion – all of these are my favorite things.
Lastly, that post Summer nap need a popsicle ASAP kinda vibe. Documenting their childhood in black and white film will always be a priority to me. Color can so easily be manipulated and color trends change all the time. There is something so timeless about black and white film to me.
