Hi, I'm Kaylie b. poplin!
This is the place that I love to share recent camping trips with my family, thoughts on preserving our stories through portrait preservation and of course, family photoshoots on our renowned 30A beaches.

A film photo of a father watching his daughter climb a tree.

I saw a video today of AI technology. I have to admit I live under a rock when it comes to technology (hello, I am still a film photographer!) and being off social media (with the exception of the Facebook page).

I was blown away! Wow. How far technology has come!

Rather than be scared of it – I am choose to celebrate the brilliant minds that create it but respectfully go the opposite way in my life and family photography.

Am I scared that my business will fail by not keeping up with all the new things?

No.

There are so many people out there who will forever hold dearly the concept of truth – whether truth of an emotion, truth of a moment or truth of reality such as maybe not loving how things turned out in a particular snapshot.

The video I watched showed someone distorting the truth of an image – turning a dogs head in the other direction, moving a horses legs to make them look in motion… but was that actually what happened? Was that the truth? It was such a small change, but the smallest deviation from truth is a lie – even if it makes something look/feel better.

The things I hold onto are tangible and not on a screen. Truthful and not distorted. Few over excess.

I know you do too.
