I have come to truly believe that one of the best things we get this side of eternity are people. This person has been a treasure in my life since we were little. I don’t mean an acquaintance either. I mean a strong, steady person who I’ve shared some of my highest highs with and lowest lows.
Radney and I grew up in Americus, Georgia. Our grandmothers lived next to each other. I remember being little and watching R and her twin sister play in the yard of their grandmother’s home. I would stand at the fence with my face pressed against it hoping they would invite me to play. To my remembrance they never did. (LOL!) Our families were friends, involved in the same church – our lives were very intertwined. This would result in one of my longest friendships to date. I even remember the day R really connected with her now husband. We had all known of each other growing up together in a small town, but on this particular day we were all at a youth camp in Florida. (Funny enough, I live here now.) R said she was going to go to the beach with a group of people (Ahem – HIM) and didn’t come back for what felt like hours. I was not happy. Come to find out she had found the guy she was going to marry.
To be able to go to Americus, Georgia just a few short weeks ago and take pictures of her family was such a treat.
Radney, thank you for decades of friendship. You have been a deep part of my life – a constant in almost every season. Praise God for the family you and Cody are building.
