Oh my goodness, I love being Santa Rosa Beach, FL photographers and the Sanders family was such a treat to photograph!
One thing that I love photographing are multi-generational families that come to Santa Rosa Beach, FL together on vacation. It sends me right back to my childhood days of coming to Florida with my grandparents, parents, cousins, sisters, aunt and uncle! I know some photographers shy away from doing large families because it can get chaotic – which is true! It absolutely can get crazy at times. You are dealing with tired kids, missed nap times and sometimes hunger since photoshoots are around dinner time during the Summer months. I thrive in this environment, though! You don’t get the truth when things are easy. It is easy to hold back personalities, emotions etc. when things are too easy. You add in a family just trying to do their best for family portraits, though, and you get the real stuff which is what we all actually want.
The Sanders family is incredible! I met them at the beach house they were staying at near Western Lake in Watercolor, Florida. We started off taking some portraits on the porch and right around the house. I love adding in saw palmettos and the beach flora we have here to a session. Starting off in a family’s comfort zone also immediately helps ease them for the rest of the session! These ended up being some of my absolute favorites from our time together as their Santa Rosa Beach FL photographers.
We then headed to the down to the beach for sunset portraits! We captured beautiful pictures of the whole family as the sun started to dip below the earth’s surface.
These grandparents were loving having their kids and grandkids all here with them together! I say it all the time – but these memories that they are making together as a family are going to be foundational in everyone’s lives but especially those babies!!
