Hi, I'm Kaylie b. poplin!
This is the place that I love to share recent camping trips with my family, thoughts on preserving our stories through portrait preservation and of course, family photoshoots on our renowned 30A beaches.

There are times as a photographer that you shoot something that makes you feel like you can breathe again. For me, it was this shoot. The colors. The beauty. The elegance. The story behind it..

I was describing to Nikita one day a shoot that had been in my head that I had wanted to photograph so bad, but at the time was a mere dream. I began to describe to her, “I want a long, gold dress.. Flowers.. Elegance…” And she calmly and confidently looked at me and said, “I have those.”

Nikita competed and placed in pageants during high school. It was this dress that she wore during one of those pageants. She absolutely loved it. (I mean, look at it on her!) She had kept it over the years and had hoped that she could be photographed in it one day. When she showed me the dress, I was thrilled. It was exactly what I had envisioned!

Everything fell into place from there. Nikita had her friend, Rayshelle, do her makeup for the shoot, which was significant because Rayshelle had been the one to do her makeup for her when she competed at the pageant in this dress years before.

Everything about this shoot was carefully planned and has a story of significance behind it.
The most significant detail behind this shoot is that this was her last time wearing a dress like this. In just a few short weeks, she will be walking on the stage in a beautiful dress, but this time, it will be white.
